PHOTOGRAPHY - INDIAN SPICE

The photography I did was around the afternoon while preparing for supper I decided to take photos of the different vegetables ,spices and herbs which make Indian  food so hot and spicy. The colours that jump out at the eye reminded me of the flag of India that is deep saffron, white and green. Spices,be it a spice seed, fruit, root, bark, or vegetable substance is used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for flavour, colour, or as a preservative that kills harmful bacteria.Spice is good for you!

All my photography is done using the Panasonic DMC-FS62

SELF PROMOTION

A Self branding campaign in which I am my own client. The brief was divided into 2
components : one which required me to design the corporate identity and a promotional campaign and the second was to design a curriculum vitae

My initial idea revolved around the idea of playing cards but I built a stronger concept from there onwards while the overall concept still drew inspiration from the first idea. The logo is a mixture of a symbol of a queen(from the Bicycle playing card-initial idea) and that of an Indian goddess(one with many arms) .I chose a popular playing card brand for quick recognition among any audience. The initial idea was to promote myself as a Trump card so people could identify the similarity between design and the game of playing cards in that design is strategic fun and unpredictable. My overall campaign was identifiable as playing cards but this concept was weak and over done.I kept the image of the queen of the Bicycle card but manipulated it to look like an Indian Goddess with many arms. The arms are symbolic of multi-tasking and
my strap line is that I am a creative multi-tasker.

The font I constructed which should be interpreted as contemporary Tamil

20 SECOND ANIMATION

Stop motion animation (Sequential movement of images to appear as one movement ) -www.wikipedia/stopmotion.
My drawings: I was going for a stylised look in the texturing and the rendering, lots of detail was put into the drawing process. All drawings were first done in pen and scanned in and painted on Photoshop, while painting and laying on textures I  tried to retain those black ink details. I used a texturing/line art style for my animation with a very grunge feel with many  layers of ink, dirt, hand-drawn details and painted textures, which are also used in the background of most drawings to give a good contrast of the environment. The target audience :MTV network continues to skillfully, remarkably, tap into the current interests of teenagers.
My style of animation is aimed at their interests in music  (alternative ,eerie and dark ) , style (grunge ,contemporary) and most interest is taken in concept art therefor I chose to illustrate futuristic robots. In that way engaging the viewer toward the usually oversaturated topic of conserving the environment in my own style. That is why our median age has stayed around 21.” -www.medialifemagazine.com on MTV

My cone Logo

The logo represents a tree and its roots make the formation of the letters CONE
Cone - Conserve Our Natural Environment
Just as roots give life to the tree,so to Cone serves as a protection to the environment

PUBLICATION : SOUTH AFRICAN COOKBOOK

My cookbook was based on a Sattvic diet. Food is universally renowned as the jewel of Hindus emotional, physical and mental wellbeing. The Sattic diet is nutritive vegetarian foods like organic nuts, seeds, whole grains and oily fruits and vegetables that help build the brain tissue and develop mental wellbeing.Sattvic foods are foods that are abundant in Prana ( the universal life ) force that gives life to all sentient beings in both plant and animal kingdoms. A Sattvic diet means not only vegetarian food, but food rich in “Prana” life-force like organic fresh fruits and vegetables . It requires avoiding canned and processed food, and foods prepared with chemical fertilizers or sprays. It also means properly prepared fresh foods. Foods prepared with lots of love will add to their Sattvic quality. My cookbook explains how the Sattvic diet can be incorporated with Yoga and Meditation to achieve emotional and physical well being. The target audience is just anyone, who has a keen interest to live a healthy and improved lifestyle.

EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION

The aim was to creatively and graphically interpret and illustrate ideas and issues raised in a supplied text. The development of the illustration in terms of the chosen article: The title “Pet Whisperer” denotes one who has animals/pets under control, understands and is able to tame and control them. The article is light and quirky, the author speaks of his somewhat soft spot for animals yet also he mentions throughout the article that he sees animals, pets in particular, as of low intellect. He concludes by placing emphasis on the fact that humans are smarter than their “beloved” pets. My intention is to place emphasis on the size of the brain of the pet compared to the pet owner. To highlight the “tongue in cheek” message of the author that: pets are dumb.

Development work

Theme:

I aimed at a clean (almost imitating a surgical feel), the illustrations come across as a biological anatomical diagram of the human brain versus the animal brain

My illustration

My illustration was based solely on vectors; I chose this as I thought it could communicate the light heartedness of the article well, its almost child like in manner (as the author speaks of the pets) and quirky fun illustrations. The computer arts projects magazine has a tremendous amount of vector illustrations in most publications I chose to go with that style. The illustration needed to communicate the same feelings evokes as by reading the article: Light heartedness, tongue in cheek humor, quirkiness etc.
